We highly recommend attendees take BART and get off at Downtown Berkeley BART! The Valley Life Sciences Building is a short walk (~3 blocks) from the BART station.
Driving Directions (to campus) from the Highway:
- From 1-80: Exit I-80/I-580 onto University Avenue eastbound and drive for ~2 miles.
- From Hwy 24: Exit Highway 24 at Telegraph Avenue, then turn right onto Telegraph Avenue and drive for ~1.8 miles.
- From-580 W or I-880 N: Take the Highway 24 E exit toward Berkeley/Walnut Creek, then keep right and exit at Martin Luther King, Jr. Way toward 51st Street; then at the stop sign, turn right onto 52nd Street; and then at the second traffic light, turn left onto Telegraph Avenue and drive for ~2 miles.
Using the above directions will get you to campus, but you’ll need to figure out which parking option you’d like to use from there.
Street parking in downtown Berkeley is free after 6pm.
Parking on campus is available for public parking (BUT NOT FREE) after 5pm in all campus lots. The best lots to use are the RSF Parking Garage or the Genetics Parking Garage. You must find a ticket dispensing machine and pre-purchase a ticket for your space, and then display the ticket on your dashboard. Parking on campus is $2/hour. More campus information on parking can be found here.
Parking in BART parking lots are free after 3pm — so the least expensive way to park for this event would be to park at either Ashby Station, North Berkeley Station, or the BART station nearest you, and BART into Downtown Berkeley. (You can also avoid dealing with downtown traffic if you do this.)
Getting to 2063 VLSB once you’re on campus:

This is what the building looks like, the entrance that is closest to 2063 VLSB is under the “Bacteriology” sign:
There are four main entrances into the building shown below — if you see the T-rex and the courtyard, you can’t enter from that side — you need to walk to the more eastern hallway and enter through room 2063.
