This park has something for all ages with its bike paths, kite flying
and picnic area, a water park and creative play area and walking paths
by the beautiful bay. So come for lunch and stay for as long as you
like.
AWIS will provide meat and buns to BBQ and cold drinks. We would like to
invite you to bring along a side dish or dessert to share that serves
6-8.
Also we will have
our first raffle at the picnic with a "Mystery Basket" giveaway (more
details on site). All donations from the raffle will support our
scholarship program for women majoring in science at local community
colleges.

Senior Scientist
Position summary:
Individual is expected to develop, execute and report on research projects for
regenerative medicine of the spine (intervertebral disc and bone). Initial focus
will be inflammation modulation and pain related to
degenerative disc disease. Individual with experience in degenerative
disc disease, or other acute or chronic inflammatory disease of connective
tissues such as OA or RA would be preferred, but relevant experience with other
biological systems will be considered. Hands-on experience in cell and molecular
techniques are essential.
Manage sponsored and contract research projects
Manage internal research projects
Develop cross company partnerships and collaborations
Analyze data and report in the form of presentation to management, papers in
scientific meetings, or peer reviewed publication
Participate in technical due diligence exercises
Attend appropriate scientific meetings
Participate in cross-functional team for product development
Qualifications:
PhD in biological science
At least 2-3 years post-doctoral experience, preferably in an industrial
setting (biotech/pharma/medical device)
Skilled in assay development, problem solving and "out-of-the-box" thinking
Experience in regenerative medicine for cartilage, disc or bone tissue
preferred
Experience in inflammatory disease such as osteoarthritis is an asset
Experience in biologics product development life cycle or drug-device
combination is preferred

spinal conditions.
While both businesses have expertise in minimally invasive, highly effective
treatments for the spine, Medtronics focus has traditionally centered on
treatment options for youth and middle-aged patients with scoliosis and

treating older patients with vertebral compression fractures,
